UK Immigration Fees Increased. In a significant move, the UK Government made a startling announcement on July 13, 2023, revealing their intent to increase most UK visa application fees by a minimum of 15%. However, at the time of the announcement, the specific date for the fee hike to take effect was left undisclosed, leaving many in anticipation. Recently, it has been officially confirmed that the UK visa application fees are set to surge on October 4, 2023.
This increase in fees, set to roll out in October, will be applicable to a majority of UK visas. Whether it’s applications for entry clearance from outside the UK or applications for leave to remain within the country, the adjustments in fees will have a broad reach. Notably, settlement and citizenship applications will also bear the brunt of these changes.

For most UK visa applications, a standardized 15% increase in the application fee is on the horizon. However, specific categories such as family visas (including spouse, civil partner, fiance, proposed civil partner, and unmarried partner), indefinite leave to remain, and naturalization as a British citizen will face a more substantial 20% increase. The student community is particularly affected, with student visa fees set to surge by an astonishing 35%.
On a related note, there’s a silver lining for some applicants. The cost of applying for a settlement visa from overseas via the Priority Visa Service will see a 13% reduction, dropping from £573 to £500. However, the same service for non-settlement visa applications from overseas will incur a steep 100% increase, skyrocketing from £250 to £500.
